FBi Radio, in partnership with the Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO), is looking for young people from across wider Sydney to take part in a 12 week radio training program.
We’re especially interested in reaching communities underrepresented in the media.
Successful applicants will work on FBi Radio’s All the Best, a weekly one hour storytelling show.
Participants will be mentored by All the Best producers and will learn how to record, edit and produce short documentaries for radio.
“All the Best is FBi's flagship Sydney program whose only boundaries are the city limits; within which it explores every corner of the city we built FBi to celebrate,” says FBi President, Cassandra Wilkinson. “Training the next generation of radio makers is our passion and I'm so pleased that with the help of the Community Broadcasting Foundation we're able to bring up to 12 young people into FBi to explore their city and share their Sydney stories with us.”
Training will take place at FBi Radio in Redfern as well as specific locations across Sydney.
Travel subsidies and meals will be provided for all participants.
Kween G from Sydney Hip Hop duo Killaqueenz and CMTO Assessor for the project knows all too well the value and power of radio; "Radio saved my life! I never had any intention of being a radio presenter until I was given the opportunity and since that day I have kept the passion in my heart. I have used radio as a tool to educate, entertain and meet lots of people. As a young woman I have seen how my position in radio has inspired my fellow peers to make positive choices with their lives as it has for me. “
The program will aim to achieve the following outcomes for participants:
- Develop a high quality portfolio of radio and online media work
- Assist with professional development opportunities
- Continued relationship with FBi Radio and All the Best
- Statement of attainment for units completed
