Congratulations to the Leadership Class of 2023!

The second group of students have graduated from the CMTO CUASS00099 Community Broadcasting Marketing Skill Set - the only accredited management course specifically designed to build leadership skills in the Australian community media sector.

Students from nine community radio stations completed the six month course covering topics including presentation; fundraising strategies; sponsorship; grant writing; volunteer management; and project management.

For the final assessment, students presented a pitch for a new income idea at their station, with projects ranging from an on-air fundraiser; a 30-year anniversary campaign with local sponsors, a membership drive, studio hire, a recycling scheme, and monetising training.

When students were asked what skills and knowledge they gained from the training, feedback included:

“Whoa!  What didn't I gain?!  The skills and knowledge have been incredibly expansive.  In every module I gained something from the training for the benefit of our radio station and things to consider putting into action those learnings plus appropriate ways to communicate them to the team”.

“A whole new way to approach all the missing bits and pieces at my station, marketing and promotional ideas and ways to think outside the box while keeping things simple and focused”.

“I feel more confident to lead the station”.

The class involved participants from the following stations:
