Mobile Journalism: it’s radical, it’s accessible and it can break stories locally, nationally and around the world.
Many of the early images and reporting during the Arab Spring, and the #BlackLivesMatter movement, can be attributed to recordings on hand held devices. But while citizens can record whatever they witness, journalists are required to present professionally and ethically. There are a number of tools and behaviours that can be adopted, to ensure quality news gathering.
Joining us for our FREE webinar to discuss just that is mobile journalism authority Robb Montgomery. Robb is a former editor for the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune and has been working as independent media consultant since 2005.
From designing the world’s first mobile-first newsroom in Georgia to training Egyptian journalists on documentary film, Robb Montgomery has fully embraced the idea of video storytelling going mobile no matter the locale. Rob will talk about the various apps available, simple additional gear to use and editing options.
The methods and examples provided are from real-life experiences, producing video from extreme reporting environments. There will be a Q&A opportunity at the end of the webinar.
The CMTO team took part in one of Robb’s webinars a couple of years ago – and found it really exciting and inspiring – that the possibility of producing broadcast quality audio and video was possible with a device that sits right in our pocket most days!
There is no prior experience required – please register here for the webinar, to be held on 20 October, 2015 at 6.30pm EST.
