Mahendra

“Hello! My name is Mahendra Chitrarasu and I study English and philosophy at the University of Adelaide. I am a community radio baby. My sum involvement to date is a year spent co-producing a program called The Flâneur Files. This was done with two good friends of mine for Radio Adelaide. We band of brothers turned our attention to an eclectic range of topics from tragedy to first love.

My documentary is about home and how identity is tied to place. It traces my grandmother’s move from India to live with me and my family in Australia. I applied for the National Features and Documentary Series because it presented an opportunity to capture this story. I’m grateful for the chance to create this documentary. This is both for the meaning it will hold for my grandmother and family, and for what I will learn about the craft of aural storytelling. I hope to produce something we can be proud of!”
