Nikola Van De Wetering

Nikola first began volunteering in community radio in 2014 with CJSW 90.9FM Canada, whilst studying my MSc in geochemistry at University of Calgary. As somebody who wasn’t from a musical background, She fell almost instantly in love with spoken-word production. In 2016 Nikola received a NCRA award in Creative Production for her first radio play series ‘Fanny’s Fiendish Fairytales’. After returning to Australia she began volunteering in production at 4ZZZ Brisbane, whilst working full-time as a researcher in coal geochemistry at the University of Queensland.

Nikola says “I’ve always wanted to try combining my experiences in science, particularly geology, with community radio, and was lucky enough to see a promotion for the NFDS through 4ZZZ! I hope from the NFDS I can garner more experience in producing long-format, spoken-word for radio, and learn better ways to engage science, media and the community.
