Open Channel is a Registered Training Organisation in Melbourne, Australia and is also a part of a national network of organisations known as Screen Development Australia.
Established in 1974, Open Channel acted in its early days as a key advocate for the development of community television in Australia and was instrumental in the establishment of what has now developed into the successful community television consortium Channel 31. Open Channel retains close ties to community television production sector today and is a training partner of C31. We offer full-time or part-time Certificate III in Media programs for the community television sector in Victoria. Open Channel offers equipment and facilities, advice, production support, events, training and professional development to the community media sector, and trains over 600 students a year.
