As our Leadership and Enterprise programs wrap up for 2020, we wanted to give a shout out to our amazing team of trainers, mentors, coaches and guest speakers who contributed to the TAKE IT ON workshops, COVID19 Coaching Program, and THINK BIG online learning and mentoring courses.

Our leadership experts include Nancia Guivarra, David Melzer and Meg Butler.  Nancia’s experience spans across First Nations Media Australia, Aboriginal Affairs NSW, Stronger Smarter Institute, NITV and SBS.  David’s array of senior management experience includes roles with SBS, CBAA, ABC, 3MBS, 3ZZZ and Wangki Radio. And Meg draws on her experience as PBS Marketing and Event Manager, Chair of the CBF Development and Operations Grants Advisory Committee and graduate of the Women in Leadership program. Realistic planning and effective communication have been major themes throughout their contributions to the program.

For enterprise development, the range of sector knowledge involved so far includes Levi Heeringa, Triple R Sponsorship and Promotions Coordinator; and Ren Cutriss, 3MDR Engagement Coordinator; as well as Claire Stuchbery’s extensive experience with PBS, 4PeopleMedia, 3APL, 3SSR, CBF and First Nations Media Australia. Supporting learners to develop sponsorship and fundraising plans, they’ve highlighted the importance of building on a station’s existing strengths and understanding organisational capacity.

During an unusually challenging year, we delivered two THINK BIG courses – 12 week online learning and mentoring programs to help stations strengthen and diversify income. Both built on the community media management, training, and arts freelance experience of the course developers and coordinators: Evrim Şen, SYN Media General Manager; and Michelle Brown, former Station Manager with 4ZZZ and 4EB, and Chair of the CBF Content Grant fund.

The CMTO’s Leadership and Enterprise experts hold a range of experiences. This includes an impressive combination of industry knowledge, best practice, awareness of emerging trends and proficiency in training.
