Student Support

Equipment

Student support will be provided in accordance with the individual needs of the student. Students without laptops may be eligible to be temporarily provided with a laptop for study purposes. Also, students may be eligible to be temporarily provided with a portable studio to complete their assessments.

Staff

In addition to your trainer, you can contact the CMTO Training Assistant if you are requiring extra assistance with your training. The Training Assistant will liaise with CMTO staff and endeavour to co-ordinate the provision of assistance wherever possible. Additional mentor sessions may be provided to assist students needing additional support.

LLN  Support

An LLN survey is used to capture accessibility requirements including format of course content, learning style, communication preferences, and strengths and tailor the courses based on each student's specific needs.  Upon enrolling, students are provided with an LLN assessment. If students require additional LLN support they may be given the contact details of a suitable service . There may be times where we are not able to provide services that meet the LLN needs of the student. This will be communicated prior to enrolment

Complaints

Students will have access to a free external mediation service in relation to complaints.

Accessibility/ disability

Our learning management software contains a feature which has greater accessibility such as text size adjustments. Students with mobility issues can request a radio station accessibility check with the host station prior to commencing the course.  This includes access and workstation suitability.

In terms of the broader access and equity services, we also offer The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) for students to contact us based on the specific language accessibility needs.
